What it is

One of the great challenges we faced was eliminating the infection of children at birth or through breast-feeding from their HIV positive mothers.

There have been many attempts at achieving this aim but many failures because of the in built challenges.

We need a new approach and working closely with the local community and village elders we came up with our methodology of offering free antenatal care to all mothers to be in the villages.

All are tested for HIV and those who are positive are immediately taken onto our programme.  They and their newborn are prescribed with the appropriate anteretroviral medicine and monitored for 24 months.

The Impact

We call this programme “The Greatest Gift” because it must surely be the greatest gift for a child born of an HIV positive mother to enter the world free of the virus.

A donation of £100 would enable another child to benefit.
