Asyleni, the happiest child you could wish to meet, always with a ready smile was infected with the deadly HIV virus, probably at birth.
She was the first child to benefit from our programme, that at last made the life-saving antretroviral medicines available to these children.
She was transformed from a bedridden, desperately ill, skeletal child - to being able to go back to school and play with her friends again.
She lived with her uncle as both her parents had died and sadly a few weeks ago, he died. As her only living close relative is an aunt in Blantyre, over 400 miles away she has had to leave Nkhotakota, where we are based and we are handing over her treatment to the government hospital there.
We wish her well in the future.
