Support us in our vital work

The WMF Children's Mobile Clinic:
In the rural regions of Malawi, children have no access to medical care; the causes are the real problems of poverty and lack of transport. To reach the nearest medical centre, on average a village child would have to travel 25kms through the bush on foot, then 40kms along the tarmac road and would then have the option of a Mission Hospital where treatment must be paid for, or a Government Hospital where threatment is free but there is rarely any medicine or skilled clinical staff. It is also true that in this desperately poor nation, with an average income in our area of operation of just 23p cents children will be at the back of the queue when it comes to a family spending its meagre resources on health care.
We treat over 30,000 sick children every year, in fact in the last 3 months we treated 10,031 with over 3,000 cases of malaria alone.

It costs £45,000 a year to provide this vital need, we need funding for this and another Children's Mobile Clinic urgently, can you help?

The queue has already formed at 07.30, the people having travelled on foot from as far as 15 or 20 miles away to access medical care for their children.
Each child is weighed before being seen by the Clinicians, to monitor their progress and ensure correct dosage.
