HIV/AIDS and Public Health Education:
WMF has wide ranging experience in this field since 1999; our main programme delivered AIDS education in 108 schools, reaching over 70,000 African children with AIDS and orphans each year. During the span of our programme we saw the HIV positive rate in secondary school children drop from 11% to 1%.
Whilst there is no longer the vacuum of knowledge that existed 6 or 7 years ago, there is still a vital and continued need to keep stressing the key elements of our programme, the advantages of abstinence, the dangers of promiscuity and unprotected sex and the right of a women to say no.
